Late this afternoon was a perfect day to walk along the Hudson River. I crossed the West Side Highway at North Moore Street and strolled along the river. A friend came to visit and needing to walk my dog Lucky became the impetus. We passed skate-boarders, bicyclists, joggers and mothers pushing carriages. The walk continued south along the Hudson River Park. We sat down on various benches, feeling the warm breeze and New York air. Several ferries came and went from the terminal, and the sun kept getting lower.
Now I'm back home at my computer, looking out at the twinkling lights of New Jersey from my 31st floor apartment. Memories of the sunset linger in my mind. I'm thinking of my upcoming trips to Reno, Nev., for the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) conference, and to Orlando, FL, for the International Pow Wow gathering, sponsored by the U.S. Travel Assocation.
At these conferences, I will learn about many travel escapes--even "beyond" ones--to report.
Stay tuned.
